Self Quest: Is your SPACE supporting your growth? + Stories of Vedic Astrology + Feng Shui ✨

One of the most over-looked areas of well-being, IMO, is your SPACE —the energy that flows (or doesn’t flow) around you influences you in invisible ways all the time.

Let me explain:

I bet you’ve entered a space before and you instantly felt your energy drop, your verbal abilities shut down, maybe your whole self just felt suddenly a little clumsy. And it’s not even because the space was ugly or dirty or messy, but more that something —you cannot even put your finger on it— was just off.

On the contrary, I bet you’ve also had the experience of walking into a space that instantly lifted your energy, that allowed conversation to flow effortlessly, that fueled you with inspiration, ideas, and easy laughter. Again, you cannot concretely say why, but you simply felt good

That’s the power of spaces. Every space holds energy and all energy either helps us or dampens us –your energy, your experiences, your flow in life.

Below, I'm going to share two specific personal experiences I had with changing my space that had a huge impact on my life.

But first, I want to offer you today's self quest question:

  • Are you aware of your spaces and how they impact you?

  • Do you love coming home?

  • Do you feel like your space is set up so you can think clearly, feel confident, and rich in ideas?

OR:

  • Is something off in your living environment, but you don't know what?

  • Do you fell frazzled, subdued, uninspired, or chronically stressed in your home?

  • Is the energy in your life consistently getting stuck, no matter what you try?

Here's what I believe:

Your space is one (important) PIECE of the bigger picture of your well-being. It is quietly influencing how you feel about yourself and your life, and it has the power to quietly move the needle for you –especially if you are in a rut, feel stuck, or want to call in fresh energy.

I want to tell you about two personal experiences I had that made me pay much more attention to my space and fostered a deep respect for the power spaces hold:

Space #1: Geographic locations + vedic astrology

About 6 years ago, I was living in San Francisco with my husband and two boys at the time. I felt blocked, often felt on edge and teary-eyed, and constantly had little health things going on.

I kept telling myself that the solution was a mindset shift, even better self-care, or something else that I had to work on internally to change how I was feeling externally.

Then, a colleague told me about a vedic astrologer in Hawaii who she had worked with who maps your astrological chart to different locations in the world. Depending on where your astrological lines run, he can tell you where in the world you are most likely to thrive from a work, relationship, health perspective.

I was instantly captivated.

I signed up for a session and he analyzed both my husband and my charts. As soon as we hopped on our call with him, the first thing that came out of his mouth was “Caroline, your health will suffer in San Francisco.”

Tears shot into my eyes instantly.

Without going into too much more detail, I knew after the call that we had to leave San Francisco. We ended up moving to a beach community in Connecticut which checked off a lot of “logical” points on our list, AND was also a better location fit from an astrological perspective for my husband and me (luckily, our charts have lots of overlap… phew ;)).

And, you know what, as soon as we moved, I felt like a shadow lifted. Life pretty immediately felt so much easier. Even though there were tons of unknowns (we were living in an Airbnb, I was 5 months pregnant with my third, Covid was starting…), I no longer felt on edge and irritable all the time. I started to feel much more resilient health-wise. I no longer felt stuck, blocked and trapped, but instead had this inner knowing –this confidence– that I can handle whatever comes my way.

So much energetic weight had been lifted off my shoulders simply by changing the location –the outer layer of our space– where we were trying to build our life.

Space #2: Our home + feng shui

I want to preface this with saying that I've loved our home from the moment we visited it with our realtor. The “bones” of our home are wonderful and I could tell when I walked in for the first time that energy flows freely and vividly throughout the house.

When we moved in 5 years ago and decorated, I had so much fun with the process. Home decor and design have been passions of mine my whole life.

To tell you the truth, I often walk into spaces and feel an urge to move things around. And while I keep it to myself (unless asked 😉), I can just feel that certain room constellations or furniture positions or colors feel like black holes energetically.

Last summer, while visiting our family in Sweden, I woke up one morning and had this crystal clear vision for how exactly I needed to change things around in our home back in CT.

I could suddenly see so clearly that something was off: we had outgrown one stage in life, but our space prevented us from fully moving on to the next chapter. The way our home currently looked and felt was no longer the best set up for what we were calling in.

It was time to shift the energy!

And then, ever the avid learner and explorer, I dove wayyyy deep into feng shui and learned so many new strategies, ways to think about our home's energy, and tools for how you can use your space to manifest what you want.

I loved every second of learning about feng shui –and still do as I continue to explore it.

I kid you not, as soon as we got back from our trip –jet-lagged and all– I dropped our bags and began moving the couches, taking down wall art, dragging rugs from one area to another.

I couldn't stop.

(You can probably tell that when I get into something, I am all in 😉)

Long story short, the energy in our home after I made a series of simple, inexpensive yet powerful shifts completely changed. And I mean, COMPLETELY!

Not only did my husband notice a drastic shift in his energy, but pretty much everyone who came over would say something along the lines of “It feels so good in here. What did you do?"

And me?

I fell in love with my home all over again. I feel so supported by the space around me and like the life I am actively trying to create is already winking back at me through my home.

There are subtle tokens of intention everywhere reminding me of my truth and our values as a family. Plus, about two months after I made specific changes in my "career corner" two separate opportunities knocked on my door that I had been secretly dreaming about for a long time.

As you can tell, I am a huge believer in the power of our spaces. I truly love everything about them 🥰

But now, I would LOVE to hear from you:

  • How do you feel in your space -geographic and home?

  • Do you feel like you are harnessing its full potential?

  • Does your space feel like it's supporting your dreams?

with love as always,

Caroline
