Self Quest: What do you do effortlessly that others find valuable?
I am in the midst of preparing for a workshop I am leading this weekend at my friend Jeannine Yoder's Breathwork Facilitator training. My workshop is centered around helping the women there UNCOVER THEIR UNIQUE GIFTS.
We'll do a guided visualization, a journaling exercise and a creative immersion to create a gift symbol that embodies their unique gifts. I cannot wait. There is something so special about doing this kind of work in person
One of the questions we will be discussing in the group is also my Self Quest question for you today:
Here's what I believe:
You have unique gifts.
You are born with certain affinities that come naturally, easily, and effortlessly to you.
You have certain qualities and abilities that, especially when you put energy towards them, can grow and evolve and become incredibly valuable.
The best thing about knowing what your gifts are is not only that those are the areas where you are most likely to excel, but you are also far less likely to burn out.
BE AWARE of 2 traps:
Your unique gifts might come so effortlessly to you that you may not even recognize them as gifts at all. You might be taking them for granted and just assume that they come easily to everyone. Make sure you revisit that assumption.
The light and beauty of your unique gifts may have been dimmed by societal or family expectations. Perhaps you were incredibly creative and intuitive as a child but were given the message that those affinities aren't really worth anything. It's your work to shake off these messages and bring your gifts forth with confidence. You shine the light.
Now, tune inward and ask yourself:
What do I do effortlessly that others find valuable?
What do people naturally come to me for?
When do I feel the most energized and fulfilled?
You can take this question and simply reflect on it on your own, you can use it as a journal prompt (very powerful ), or you can go on a walk with friends and discuss it in a group (so fun :)).
With love as always,
Caroline
