The Art Of Noticing

What gets lost in a fast-paced, busy world?

Noticing.

We forget to notice… not just the tiny flowers on the sidewalk, the marvelous shapes of the clouds, the sweet chirps of birds, the smell of freshly cut grass, or the soft caresses of a gentle summer breeze… but also, the subtle changes in a loved ones face, the shift in tone, the quiet messages of posture and breathe and scent.

And if we don’t notice, then how can we be curious, care for each other, and genuinely ask “What’s up?"

And when our curiosity about each other is stunted by the bursting of our calendars or the speed of our scrolling, our minds cannot initiate our hearts to reach out, to connect, to weave a tight bond with those who matter most.

Without noticing each other, who are we?

Can you walk, just for today, perhaps just for five minutes, through your life as if you’re seeing everything for the first time?

Can you look at your husband, your partner, your lover, your kids, your parent, your friend, your neighbor, or perhaps a complete stranger with curiosity and simply see what you notice?

Noticing brings you wealth, beauty, and connection.

So remember to put down your phone, to turn off the TV, to put away your schedule and look around earnestly, openly, curiously.

Love,

Caroline
